A little peek

Like most artists I don't show my old work off very much. It's only natural that when you look back you poke holes in your work and see all the negatives that you have improved on since then. But I think it's nice to reflect on the work I once did and unfortunately don't find the time to do anymore.

When I was in college I loved painting, mostly oil paints but i'd also experiment with mixed media. Using things like expanding foam/oil/superglue/pva glue/cement/sand etc to create textures and raised surfaces. I'd mostly paint portraits and parts of the body which I found really interesting, especially fat and skin. May sound weird but I loved the range of tones (for example bruises) and the different shapes and textures. One of my biggest inspirations at the time was Jenny Saville (check her work out) most people would probably find disgusting and unnerving but I love it.

So here is one of the wooden panels series I did based around the female form:

What do you think of Jenny Saville's work? Do you have a favorite artist? Would you like to see more of my work?
Let me know in the comment box below, i'd love to hear from you!
